It's really
nice arrive into a place you're not familiar with and having a friend there to
guide you around.
I'm
here to give you some
insight about my land and a
bit of experience into Italian life.
Let's visit
together the unknown Italy in the heart of Maremma, between Tuscany and Lazio.
1) ART AND HISTORY GUIDED EXCURSIONS
My names is Marianna
and I am 27 years old. I live in a small gorgeous village on the Amiata Mountain,
called Santa Fiora. I am an architect and since short time I became also a tour guide.
Combining my
passions for monuments, ancient traditions and taste, I propose three kinds of routes...1) ART AND HISTORY GUIDED EXCURSIONS
For a first
approach, just a few examples (I am
available throughout the territory of Viterbo and Grosseto):
- discover
the Etruscan civilization of Vulci,
a walk through the ancient ruins of the city up to a beautiful pond (it lasts
about 3 hours)
- in a day,
discover the tufa towns Pitigliano
and Sorano, two cities carved in the
rock. moreover the historic center of Sovana
has a wealth of religious and civil architecture of the early Middle Ages
-visit the
historic centre of Montefiascone,
with his unmistakable silhouette and the impressive dome of the church of Santa
Margherita. Rocca di Papi is the remains of the old Papal summer residence. It
provides a great view of Bolsena Lake from its position at the top of
the town.
2)
INSIDE THE TRADITION
For groups
from 3-10 guests we offer a variety of options
-Visit the old cellar: we walk in the
vineyard with guided tour and wine
tasting
-Visit the oil mill: we observe the processing
of olive oil and we taste the famous "bruschetta", a slice of bread
cooked in the fireplace and topped with olive oil
- Guided
tours to local manufacturers and
artisans, including: cheese makers, ceramic studios or stone carving,
wrought iron workshop…
3) WORKSHOPS
- LANDSCAPE PAINTING AND LIFE-DRAWING
We draw
together landscape of Maremma: wagons, oxen, few pastors and wilderness. It is
not the the Wild West but the Italy of the early '900! In case of bad weather,
this course can take place inside the Museum of Brigandage in Cellere, near
Viterbo.
- ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING
We draw
together one of the first works of the Italian Renaissance: the church of
Sant'Egidio in Cellere (built in 1515) . Floor plan, site plan, elevation front
and... and axonometric projections if we can! However, we can only make things
easy, and proceed only with the first sketches like a beginner architect.
